Nitrate
Plant nitrate samples are most important when there is concern of nitrate accumulation in plants that may have a negative effect on animals. The level of plant nitrate is analyzed on a dry matter basis and is reported as parts per million (ppm) nitrate (NO₃). With the result report, a chart will be sent with the effect on animals at each NO₃ concentration.

Protein
Protein analysis is also available for plant, forage, and grain samples. This analysis is important in determining the quality of plant material, forage, and grain as a livestock feed.
