About the Department

The Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University provides statewide leadership in teaching, research, and extension in crop, soil, and range sciences. Weed science, crop breeding, climatology, genetics, environmental science, water science, and protecting soil and water resources are also important components of the mission of the department. Advances in these sciences have major impact on transforming the bounty of the natural resources of Kansas into the present standard of living enjoyed by its people, as well as providing significant advantages at the national and international levels.

What's New in Agronomy at K-State
Dr. Presley receives award from EPA
Congratulations to DeAnn Presley, Assistant Professor-Environmental Soil Science and Management and the Department of Agronomy, for receiving the Achievement Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Food Recovery Challenge. This award demonstrates the commitment to improving sustainable food management practices and was also presented to the other contributing units across campus such as housing and dining services and facilities. K-State's joint efforts in this program have represented a very special achievement, as they K-State is the only university in region seven to receive it.
