The Soil and Environmental Science program is one of three core research, extension and graduate training programs in the Agronomy program. The program addresses both basic and applied research needs related to the quality of our soil, air and water resources, especially as impacted by agricultural activities. This program interacts closely with the Soil Fertility and Soil and Water Management programs, especially in extension/technology transfer, which are more focused on crop production activities. Urban/industrial effects on soil, air and water quality are also addressed by this group. This includes such things as land application of waste products, remediation of contaminated soils (mining, petroleum, military lands) and land use.
