About the Department        

The Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University provides statewide leadership in teaching, research, and extension in crop, soil, and range sciences. Weed science, crop breeding, climatology, genetics, environmental science, water science, and protecting soil and water resources are also important components of the mission of the department. Advances in these sciences have major impact on transforming the bounty of the natural resources of Kansas into the present standard of living enjoyed by its people, as well as providing significant advantages at the national and international levels.

Southeast Kansas Producers Enjoy Personal “Agronomy Weekend”

Agronomy Images>Mont.Co FarmersA group of about 15 producers, representing nearly 30,000 crop acres in southeast Kansas, visited the Agronomy Department on January 22-23, 2010, for a special “Agronomy Weekend” tour of the facilities. The trip was arranged by Scott Gordon, Montgomery County Extension agent, and Doug Shoup, Southeast Area Crops and Soils Specialist.
